Nigerian Army Varsity Unveils Science Faculty

The Nigerian Army University Biu, Borno State in North East Nigeria has launched the newly built Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences at the institution’s main campus.

The country’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS),Tukur Buratai, who conducted the inauguration ceremony in the company of the emir of Biu said the facility was one of the numerous projects under construction in the university being jointly financed by the Nigerian Army and the Federal Government.

According to him, the priority being given to the faculty points towards the army’s commitment towards realizing the long-term vision of the university which was established in 2017 to become a solution centre in technology, research and development for the promotion of self-reliance, creativity, and innovation in the country.

The building comprises of 47 offices, including offices for the two deans of the faculty, 24 classrooms and lecture halls as well as three laboratories.

“This commissioning ceremony underscores the continuation of an accelerated development plan for the university. It’s my firm belief that this kind of gathering would become a repeated exercise in months to come,” the Nigerian army chief said during the inauguration.

He stated that the commitment of the governing council, management, and staff of the university to the dreams, philosophy and aspirations of the university was unwavery.
